Kroeber
Hall, UC Berkeley
Felt, cardboard, lights, magic book
February 2007 |
| "Untitled
Theater 3" utilizes a consumer-based motion
detector to activate. Installed in a busy
lobby on the UC Berkeley campus, students and
staff were forced to walk by this display case
every day of the week. Set to a sensitive
setting, every time an individual passed in front
of the display case radius, the cardboard cutout
of Brad, the artist, would rotate a full revolution
and the green light bulb would illuminate.
This display case installation operated for a
seven-day period. The case is lined with
red felt and J. Hilliard's magic handbook Greater
Magic sits on the left side partially
obscuring the power-strip.
The light bulb on the left side did not
turn on. |
